Hi and welcome! In general, summer hiking of the CT isn't a great a idea for two main reasons: (1) landowner permission usually (often?) stipulates that the trail is for winter use (and fall maintenance) only and (2) the trail isn't designed with hiking as its purpose, so it's often quite swampy and brushy, as muddy-booted trail maintainers will attest.
That makes it occur to me that there is a good way to see parts of the trail on foot: volunteer to help maintain a section in the fall! By the end of summer the maintenance schedule should be in the newsletter, and trail chiefs can post their needs on this forum. There are probably short exceptions to the no-foot-traffic rule - I'm thinking of the Stratton Pond trail which is a hiking trail, too. Perhaps others will post other notable exceptions. Lynn |
