Still a little early
I skied on Route 108 today (Sat 17 Nov) from the Stowe side up to the top of the Notch. There was just enough snow on the road for decent skiing, including safe descents through the switchbacks (and no snowmobiles yet). But at the lower elevations (say 1550-1650') the snow was a little on the damp side, causing icy buildup on my waxless skis (because I was too lazy to do any ski preparation for this morning's experiment). And anywhere else (below 1500') there was too little snow even to consider skiing.
So I think it's still a little early in the season.
