My planned trip- Questions

So I was going to go on a road trip for my 9 days off in february, but the cops kinda took my liscence away, so i changed my plans a bit. My friend (who is not the best skiier but is a natural athlete so im sure he'll pick it up quickly) and I want to go north along the CT trail starting from my house in section 6. We want to continually head north over the span of 4-6 days until we run out of time and have someone come pick us up. I have a couple questions though.
1.Are there any cabins or lean-tos along the trail that we can spend nights in?
2.How close does the CT trail get to middlebury, and more specifically, middlebury college?
3. How many miles could we cover if we went at a moderate pace for 6-7 hours?

that other thread does not cover what i need to know. I'm thinking about skiing from mad river glen to middlebury during my trip north and id like to know if anyone has done it before and how long it'd take.

Figure on about 2 MPH, longer if you are hauling a sled or a heavy pack, or if the snow is deep, even longer if solo and the snow is deep, down to about 4 miles per DAY if you are solo, hauling a sled and the snow is deep. Even downhills will be slow in those conditions. Read the trail descriptions to get an idea of terrain and distance, and to check your route. The trail does go through Middlebury's Cross Country ski center, not sure how close that is to the actual campus, look at the trail maps elsewhere on this site.
I don't think there are any cabins or shelters in the sections you are considering.

The Catamount Trail goes through the Rikert Ski Touring Center at Middlebury College's Breadload campus. This campus is mainly used for the summer programs. The main campus is just west of the town of Middlebury, about 13 miles west.
